Made a Resolution? Need Help?January 5, 2017
Do you want to learn to play the guitar? Lose weight? Make money on YouTube? Repair your reputation or turn yourself into a Zombie? Keep reading….
This month we’re promoting Universal Class and Lynda.com to help patrons with their New Year’s resolutions.
Universal Class offers online courses in Exercise and Fitness, Entrepreneurship, Arts and Music, Home and Garden Care, Cooking, Computers and Technology, Health and Medicine, Homeschooling, Job Assistance, Law and Legal, Parenting and Family, Pet and Animal Care…plus 100’s more.
Lynda.com, offers more than 4,200 courses covering technical skills, creative techniques, business strategies, and more. Create an account, track your progress, and print certificates of completion when you finish a course. Many classes come with downloadable exercise files. Patrons can explore a wide range of subjects from photography, animation, music and video, to graphic design, project management and web development. Watch entire courses or single tutorial videos as needed. (Yes, they do have a zombie class.)
All you need is your La Grange Public Library card. Without a library card, a Universal Class would charge from $75 to $150 a class. Lynda runs about $360/year. Here at the Library, they’re Free with Your Card!
Take ten minutes and sign up for a Lynda account. It’s a great resource if you have a question about Word, or Excel, or if you want to repair your reputation.
