All residents of the Village of La Grange are entitled to a free La Grange Public Library card. And, your card will not automatically expire! Check the Illinois Library Service Area map to see if you live in the La Grange Public Library service area.

Residents Age 13 & Up
Village of La Grange residents can sign up for a new card in-person at the Library. You will need a valid photo ID (this includes student IDs) and proof of address if address does not match what is on your ID (examples include a utility bill or piece of mail). If you don't yet have proof of your La Grange address, we'll give you a temporary card you can use for 30 days until you have something to verify your address.
Residents Under 13
Non-Resident Home Owners
If you are not a resident of the Village of La Grange, you may purchase a 1-year, non-resident library card in-person at the Library. Non-Resident taxpayers have the option of choosing to pay the annual card fee in either a one-time lump sum for a 12-month period or pay 50% for the first 6-month period and 50% for the last 6-month period.
You will need:
- A valid photo ID
- Current tax bill (fee based on your home's Assessed Value (AV) OR Equalized Assessed Value (EAV). Choose the appropriate calculator below.)
- Non-resident homeowners can find this information on their most recent Tax Bill in the Tax Calculator section.
A fee for an unincorporated non-resident library card shall not be charged to:
- Children aged 18 and younger who do not reside within the incorporated boundaries of La Grange and reside in the boundaries of La Grange School District 105
- Veterans with a service-connected disability of at least 70% who are exempt from paying property taxes on their primary residence or who do not own their principal residence in an unincorporated area
- An unmarried surviving spouse of a veteran who qualified for the veteran exemption prior to their spouse’s death
- An unmarried, surviving spouse of a service member killed in the line of duty

Non-Resident Renters
If you are renting but not residing in Village of La Grange, you may purchase a 1-year card in-person at the Library. The non-resident Renters Fee will be 15% of your monthly rent.
You will need:
- A valid photo ID
- Current lease
La Grange Teachers
La Grange Business Owner/Manager
If you own property in the Village of La Grange but do not live in La Grange, you may register for a Business Owner/Manager card or one Property Owner card.
You will need:
- A valid photo ID
- Proof of ownership of a business in La Grange
