Anti-Racism Statement and Resource List

June 4, 2020

The La Grange Public Library stands with the peaceful protesters exercising their First Amendment rights to speak out against the death of George Floyd while in the custody of the Minneapolis police.

As a public library, all are welcome and are treated with dignity and respect. We stand against systemic racism and prioritize equal access and the freedom to learn, explore and connect. Discrimination is not tolerated. We support The Black Caucus of the American Library Association’s Statement Condemning Increased Violence and Racism Towards Black Americans and People of Color.

Find resources below curated by our librarians as we proclaim that Black Lives Matter and strive to make our country a more just and equitable place.

Signed in solidarity,
Joyce Hagen-McIntosh, President of the Library Board of Trustees
Charity Gallardo, Executive Director
