Get a Card

All residents of the Village of La Grange are entitled to a free La Grange Public Library card. And, your card will not automatically expire!
You can register online for a library card to utilize our online services.

Residents Age 13 & Up
Village of La Grange residents can sign up for a new library card in-person at the Library. You will need a valid photo ID with your current address (this include student IDs).
Residents Under 13
Village of La Grange residents under the age of 13 must visit the Library accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to register for a new library card.
Non-Resident Home Owners
If you are not a resident of the Village of La Grange, you may purchase a 1-year, non-resident library card in-person at the Library.
You will need:
- A valid photo ID
- Current tax bill (fee based on Assessed Home Value. Non-resident homeowners can find their home’s Assessed Value on their most recent Tax Bill in the Tax Calculator section.)
Non-Resident Renters
If you are renting but not residing in Village of La Grange, you may purchase a 1-year card in-person at the Library. Non-resident Renters Fee is $242 per year, effective July 1, 2020.
You will need:
- A valid photo ID
- Current lease
La Grange Teachers
Thanks to an agreement between the library and local school districts, we can now offer a Teacher Card. More info.
La Grange Business Owner/Manager
If you own property in the Village of La Grange but do not live in La Grange, you may register for up to three Business Owner/Manager cards or one Property Owner card.
You will need:
- A valid photo ID
- Proof of ownership of a business in La Grange

- La Grange residents: patrons with a La Grange address
- La Grange property owners: patrons who own property in La Grange
- La Grange business owners: patrons who own a business in La Grange
- Reciprocal Borrowers: cardholders at other Illinois libraries, including Chicago public
- Non-resident Renters (annual fee): patrons who rent, and live in areas not served by a library, such as Countryside
- Non-resident Homeowners (annual fee): patrons who own their home, and live in areas not served by a library, such as Countryside
