by Anna Burns

No Wait on Hoopla!

Winner of the Man Booker prize in 2018, Milkman is a tale of gossip and hearsay, silence and deliberate deafness. It is the story of inaction with enormous consequences. The stream of consciousness style of writing marries together the confusion and paranoia of Troubles era Northern Ireland, and Burns manages to string together a disturbing yet intimate representation of the impact and consequences of such a "trial by implications" society.
